Golf tourney proceeds assist cancer victims and families

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — C-A-N-C-E-R (Caring Area Neighbors for Cancer Education & Recovery) held its 18th annual golf tournament Saturday, June 24 at the Presque Isle Country Club.

Helping to celebrate the event were 32 teams from Presque Isle, Caribou, Fort Fairfield, Easton,  Mars Hill, Ashland, Portage and Canada. It turned out to be a beautiful day and a great time was had by all the participants.

All proceeds from this fundraiser stay in Aroostook County, assisting cancer patients in treatment and their families.

The top two men’s teams and the top two women’s for gross and net are as follows: men’s first gross: Aaron Keirstead, Shawn Doyen, Ryan Graves and Joe Greaves; men’s first net: Liam Hughes, Gary Hughes, Greg Hallett and Gary Bowden; men’s second gross: Tony Roy, Carter LaPointe, Michael Boone and AJ Cloukey; and men’s second net: Tom Towle, Jeff Murchison, Bobby Russell and Himie Towle.

Women’s first gross: Jenna Hallett, Sandy Beaupre, Alexis Madore and Betty Deveau; women’s first net: Janine Stackpole, Katy Roy, Leanne Sharland and Tanya LaPointe; women’s second gross: Nicole Giberson, Wendy Giberson, Jane Antworth and Lisa Calhoun; and women’s second net: Chris Grover, Bethany St. Pierre, Kathy Levesque and Sue Nickerson.
