Easton graduates earn awards, scholarhsips

Easton’s 2017 graduates received scholarships totaling $255,768, along with awards for outstanding performance during end-of-year activities, which included baccalaureate services Sunday, June 4; Class Night on Wednesday, June 7; and graduation on Friday, June 9.

Senior marshals were Breann Clayton and Jenna Perkins. Honor parts included Elisa Allen, valedictorian; Breann Clayton, salutatorian; Jacob Flewelling, first honor essayist; and Hunter Brown, second honor essayist.

The faculty awarded students who achieved the highest level of proficiency across the curriculum.  Mrs. Pamela Kinsey presented All-Aroostook Awards for Chorus to Cecelia Ferris and Katelyn White. Isabelle Morin, Katelyn White, Cecelia Ferris and Lydia Ferris received the All Aroostook Band Award. The State Jazz Choir Solo Certificate went to Cecelia Ferris, Katelyn White, Isabelle Morin, Shelliese Mullen and Lydia Ferris. The All State Treble Choir award was presented to Katelyn White. A second-year Treble Clef Pin was presented to Cecelia Ferris, Paige Flewelling, Isabelle Morin and Katelyn White. The Band Award went to Isabelle Morin.  The Jazz Choir Award was presented to Katelyn White.  

Polly Tateishi presented the Grade 9 Writing Award to Samantha Boulier and 11/12 English to Brandon Dickinson.

Sue Cartier Barrett presented Wellness Team awards to Jenna Perkins, Jordan Doody, Christopher Busse, Kirtas Jandreau, Wilder Mitchell, Shelliese Mullen and Emily Thompson.

Darren West presented Social Studies Awards to Katelyn White for College U.S. History II, Samantha Boulier for World History, Joshua Peers for College U.S. History I, Breann Clayton for 21st Century Issues, Katelyn White for American Government and Delia Bonner for Street Law.  The Online Learning Award was presented to Connor Bragg.  He also recognized the following members of the Student Council with certificates:  Jacob Flewelling (President), Hunter Brown (Vice President), Abigail Currier (Secretary), Collin Sotomayor (Treasurer), Keagan Kinney, Isabelle Morin, Christopher Busse, Carson Flewelling, Shelliese Mullen, Kooper Kinney, Matthew Pangburn and Lydia Ferris.  

West presented the May Student of the Month Award to Jenna Perkins.

Paul Sutherland presented Math Awards to Kaitlyn Hurley for Algebra I, Samantha Boulier for Geometry, Isabelle Morin for Algebra II, Katelyn White for Advanced Math, Jacob Flewelling for Physics and Elise Allen for Math Team.

Jane Hutchison presented the Art awards.  The Art I award was presented to Joshua Peers.  The Art II award went to Summer Guess.  Art III was awarded to Michael Brown and the Art IV Pin went to Carter Mazerolle.

Bryan Wright presented the following Science Awards: Earth Science to Ashley Cowley, Tech Prep Chemistry to Ryan West & Anatomy to Katelyn White.  He also presented two Computer Applications awards to Collin Sotomayor & Cecelia Ferris.

Julio Morin awarded pins to the following Spanish students; Spanish I – Samantha Boulier, Cecilia Morin and Abigail Dionne, Spanish II- Emily Thompson, Spanish III – Katelyn White.

Bryan Shaw presented Physical Education – “All Around Athlete Awards” to Freshmen Kooper Kinney & Sophomore PE Hunter Dudley.  The Health Award was presented to Samantha Boulier.

Nikki Guess presented on behalf of Mrs. Melissa Smith and awarded the English I award to Samantha Boulier & English II to Emily Thompson.  The Period 2 British Literature award went to Katelyn White and the Period 3 British Literature award went to Delia Bonner & Summer Guess.  

Pamela Murchison presented the following Business Education Awards:  Desktop Publishing to Elise Allen and Personal Finance to Breann Clayton. Accounting I was presented to Jacob Flewelling.  The Excel award went to Jacob Flewelling and Elise Allen.  Abigail Currier received the Yearbook Editor Award and Jacob Flewelling was the recipient of the Award for Marketing.

Ellen Trask presented the College Biology award to Samantha Boulier.  Summer Guess & Miranda McLean were the recipients of the Environmental Studies Award & Wilder Mitchell received the Tech Prep Biology Award. Envirothon Team 2 members who placed second in the regional competition were:  Michael Brown, Summer Guess, Miranda McLean, Dustin Lacroix, Zachary Hammond & Jordan Doody.

Principal Cameron Adams presented the Maine Principals’ Award to Jacob Flewelling.  The U.S. Army Reserve Scholar/Athlete Awards were presented to Elise Allen and Jacob Flewelling.  The Phi Beta Kappa Maine Academic Achievement Award went to Katelyn White.  The Willis A. McPherson Award was presented to Zachary Hammond and Jacob Flewelling received the Outstanding School Citizen Award.
