PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – George W. Spooner, 90, passed away, Wednesday morning, July 12, 2017, at his son’s residence in Ludlow. He was born on May 16, 1927, in Presque Isle, the son of Harry and Alice (Wood) Spooner.
George served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked for Indian Head Plywood and later worked at the Aroostook State Farm for 20 years. He enjoyed snowmobiling and camping, and he loved dogs.
He is survived by his sons, Donald Spooner and his wife, Melony, of Ludlow and Scott Spooner and his wife, Theresa, of Ashland; his daughters, Connie Driscoll and her husband, Norman, of Presque Isle and Marcia Munson and her companion, Ray Parks, of Winterville; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his wife, Mildred (Hammond) Spooner, in 2013.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. James Ackerson, officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle. Donations may be made in his memory to Central Aroostook Humane Society, 26 Cross Street, Presque Isle, ME 04769.
