Caribou sweeps tennis singles in regional recreation department tourney

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Six tennis players from Caribou won their respective divisions at the Northern Maine Community Recreation Association singles tournament, which was held Tuesday, July 18, at the University of Maine at Presque Isle

. 

Twenty players from Caribou and Presque Isle participated in the single-elimination event.

Madelyne Deprey was uncontested in the girls’ ages 9-10 division, while Maddie Stratton also went unchallenged in the 13-15 age group. Ashlyn Bouchard of Caribou scored an 8-0 victory over Emmie McIntyre, also of Caribou, in the finals of the 11-12 division.

For boys, Dominic
Albair was the lone participant in the 9-10 category. Elliot Sleeper blanked Wesley Hitchcock of Presque Isle, 8-0, in the 11-12 final and Parker Deprey came away with an 8-5 win over Sawyer Deprey in the 13-15 title match

The NMCRA doubles tourney is set to start at 9 a.m. next Tuesday, July 25, at the Teague Park courts in Caribou.
