ARLINE P. DICKISON, HOULTON – Arline P. Dickison, 92, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at her home. She was born May 4, 1925, in Houlton, the daughter of James Pickle and Olif (Young) Buckham Pickle King.
Arline grew up in Houlton and attended and graduated from Houlton High School. She married Ronald Sydney Dickison on September 8, 1941 and together they would raise six children. Arline was a homemaker for many years and later worked as a clerk at Sears, Lads ‘N Lassies, J.C. Penney’s, and finally at Town & Country. She also was a RSVP Volunteer at Houlton Regional Hospital, as well as a voter registration clerk for many elections. She was a longtime member of the Houlton United Methodist Church, the Ebbett Circle Ladies Sunday School Class, and the Portia Rebekah Lodge. For many years she made many ceramic creations, but then she started quilting and it quickly became her passion. She made many beautiful quilts and was a member of the Maine Quilters Guild and also Friends and Needles.
She is survived by her five children, Gerald Dickison and his wife Doris of Houlton, Linda Wotton of Houlton, Rhonda Shaw and her husband Colby of Littleton, Nancy Britton and her husband Rod of Houlton, Mary Jane of Ellsworth, ten grandchildren, Brent, Brian, Holly, Angela, Sara, Carrie, Casey, Chris, Katie, Ashley, thirteen great-grandchildren, Samantha, Douglas, Jessica, Emily, George, Brooke, Samuel, Abigail, Kip, Cody, Kye, Connor, and Collin. She also leaves behind a sister Elsie (Buckham) Cameron of Port Hope, Ontario Canada, a brother John King of Houlton, nieces and nephews, and a feline companion “Allie.” The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, Marlyn, Nancy, and Gail. In addition to her parents, Arline was predeceased by her husband Ronald Dickison, a son Douglas Dickison, son-in-law George Wotton, and two granddaughters, Julie Dickison and Darcy Shaw.
Friends called 2 p.m. Friday July 21, 2017 at the Dunn Funeral Home, Houlton, where a funeral service was conducted at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Dan Morse officiating. Interment took place at Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton. The family invited relatives and friends to a time of refreshment at Arline’s home following the committal service.
