Chester “Chet” R. Davis

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Chester “Chet” R. Davis, 90, passed away Saturday Morning, July 22, 2017 at the Maine Veterans Home, Caribou. He was born on March 18, 1927, the son of the late Robert and Jennie (McIntyre) Davis.

Chet served his country in World War II as a paratrooper and glider pilot in the 11th Airborne. He worked for many years at Shalak Bag Factory and retired from Indian Head, a division of Columbia Forest Products, with over 30 years of service. He always had an inquisitive mind and would read anything available. He was a jack of all trades but his passion was working. He often could be sighted riding the Aroostook County backroads with a cold beverage. For all that knew Dad, he loved to tell and play jokes. A true colorful character.
He is survived by his children; William “Bill” Davis and his wife Diana of Presque Isle, Sherry Hall and her husband Gary of Little Rock AR, Rose Morrissey and her husband Daniel of Bairdsville N.B. Canada, Jennie Lahue and her husband Thomas of Clearview N.B. Canada, Chettina Hackett and her husband Keith of Colorado Springs CO and Chester Davis Jr. and his wife Shari of West Palm Beach FL, brothers; Harold Davis and his wife Linda, Richard Davis and his wife Nhan, sisters; Shirley Easler and Jean Easler, 12 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews, including a very special niece, Gayna.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Alice (Harrington) Davis, two infant daughters, his brothers; William, Junior and Clarence, a sister, Dorothy, a son-in-law, Dana Rand and a grandchild, Holly Hall.
