Donald ‘Chip’ Albert Fitzpatrick

DONALD ‘CHIP’ ALBERT FITZPATRICK, BANGOR AND HOULTON – Donald “Chip” Albert Fitzpatrick, 58, passed away in Bangor on July 22, 2017. He was born in Houlton on Jan. 13, 1959, the son of Donald Sr. and Dorothy (Haley) Fitzpatrick.
Chip attended school in Houlton and graduated from Houlton High School, Class of 1977. Following high school, he owned and operated Chip’s Superette in Houlton before becoming a salesman and candy buyer for Reid’s Confectionery. In recent years, he was a chauffeur for Maine Chauffeured Service. Chip was a Boy Scout and attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Houlton in his younger years. He enjoyed camping, especially at Deering Lake and Beech Hill Pond. His love of the outdoors lead to him climbing Mt. Katahdin more than 40 times and his canoe trips on the Allagash, including a very special trip with his grandson last year. He was the go-to guy for computer issues. Chip was proud of his Irish heritage and traveled to Ireland four times. He was a BIG fan of the Boston Red Sox and even more so, the New England Patriots! Chip was a regular fixture with his wife at any dinner being held at St. George Greek Church in Bangor.
He was predeceased by his Grandmother and Grandfather Haley, and Grammie and Grampie Fitz. He is survived by his parents of Houlton; loving wife, Kathleen (Dwyer); daughters, Jessica and husband, Matt Wilson, of Gray and Shannon and husband, Scott Stuart, of Harpswell; grandchildren, Cassidy, Ethan, Silas, Lexie, Jack and a grandson-to-be; brothers, Chris and wife, Lauren, and Toby and wife, Renee, all of Houlton; sister-in-law, Ann Leen of Sarasota, FL; brother-in-law, Fred Dwyer of Bangor; nieces and nephews, Kelsey, Jimmy, Riley, Meghan and Ryan; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends. Chip is also survived by his constant canine companion, Tessie.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mass General Hospital in Boston for the great care they provided Chip during his illnesses. They would also like to thank the emergency room staff at St. Joseph Hospital, especially Nurse Albert, for the care and compassion they provided to Chip in his final hours. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 90 Sanford St., Bangor, ME 04401.
Family and friends are invited to visit 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, where a Trisagion service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the celebration of a Mass of Christian Burial begins at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 27, at St. Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church, 112 Military St., Houlton. Burial will follow at Fitzpatrick Family Cemetery, Jordan Rd., Houlton. Everyone is invited to a reception back at the church following the burial.
