HOULTON, Maine — Back in May, the Ford Motor Corporation teamed up with York’s of Houlton to sponsor the Ford Drive for Your Community Event in support of Southern Aroostook Minor Hockey Association.
York’s of Houlton donated 10 new vehicles including two Ford Fusions, a Ford Edge, Focus, Taurus, Escape and the two most popular the Mustang and the F350 Super Duty.
In turn the Ford Motor Corporation donated $20 for all vehicles test driven by qualified drivers in our community.
“This event was a huge success for SAMHA, raising nearly $4,000,” said SAMHA President Serenna Fitzpatrick. In addition there were concessions donated by County Yankee, Houlton Farms Dairy and Dunkin Donuts. “Fundraisers such as this are the sole reason we are able to provide specialty clinics, such as power skating and goalie sessions, keeping our Intro to Play program free for first time players and reduced for returning players. It also helps with the rising cost of ice time and referees” said Fitzpatrick.
There were also giveaways donated by York’s of Houlton and a 50/50 raffle won by Tina
McNinch and graciously donated back to SAMHA.
“I am extremely humbled by the continued support our community provides to the growth and
development of youth athletes of all sports in our area. I am very proud of the board members,
volunteers and sponsors that made this event possible. Our youth are so fortunate to be
growing up in such a supportive and giving community” added Fitzpatrick.
