PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Otis Nelson of Modern Roofing and Siding in Ashland has set a new competition record in the latest leg of the “CAMO Screw Off!” event held at S.W. Collins in Presque Isle.
With a time of 0.46.77, just 0.00.02 ahead of the previous leading time, Nelson has now earned the right to compete for a 2017 Harley-Davidson Roadster motorcycle and other cash prizes at the CAMO Screw Off! finals held at the Northeastern Retail Lumber Association’s Lumber and Building Materials Expo in Providence, R.I., in February 2018.
“It’s hard to believe, but some of our contractors were not aware of the CAMO Edge Fastening system before today,” said Randy Hitchcock, S.W. Collins store manager in Presque Isle. “But, that certainly changed once the competition began. They got to see it in-action for the first time and were really impressed with the way it worked. The CAMO Screw Off! turned out to be a great event that also generated sales.”
For added enjoyment, S.W. Collins even held its own internal competition, with Jebb Shaw coming in first with a time of 00.54.88 among the store’s employees companywide. “Our staff joined the fun by having their own competition,” added Hitchcock. “It was a good day all around for everyone that participated.”
The deck fastening competition is designed to introduce contractors to deck fastening products. Additional qualifying events will take place at CAMO stocking dealer locations based in New Jersey and New England throughout the summer.
