PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Aroostook Basketball Camp recently completed two weeks of sessions, with approximately 135 campers attending.
In its 19th year, the camp is under the direction of Bill and Chris Casavant and this year took place at Presque Isle High School. This year’s coaching staff consisted of former high school coaches Phil Faulkner and Larry Murphy and current coaches Jeff Hudson, Tyler Putnam, Marc Weeks, Dillon Kingsbury and Cliff Urquhart.
The players went through seven hours of intensive instruction and competition each day of the week-long camp. The boys’ camp was held June 26-30 and the girls’ camp took place July 10-14.
“Our staff is totally dedicated to improving every player that attends our camp, regardless of age or what school they attend,” said Bill Casavant.
Special awards were presented on the final day of each week. All-star team selections and league champions were recognized and camp MVPs, coaches awards and most improved player and best defense awards were handed out, while 3-on-3, 1-on-1 and foul shooting champions were announced.
Boys
Evan Deschaine of Fort Kent was named MVP of the college division during boys’ week at Aroostook Basketball Camp, held June 26-30 at Presque Isle High School. Dylan Burpee of Oakfield was the choice in the high school division.

High school all-stars in the 9-12 year-old age group were Dylan Burpee, Colby Burlock, Blake Anderson, Landen Belanger, Trafton Russell, Mason Oakes, Jack Buck, Ethan Collier, Landen Leavitt, Kamron Tardif, Gabe Theriault and Alex Duprey.
The Riots were the league champions in the high school division. Team members were Landen Leavitt, Max Graves, Hunter Reed, Landen Belanger, Josh Harvell, Carson Richards, Rider Chandler, Body McPherson, Ethan Collier and Colby Burlock.
Special awards for high school division: 1-on-1 champion, Dylan Burpee; foul shooting, Ethan Collier; coaches award, Gavin Dunleavy; most improved, Brandon Porter; best defense, Colby Burlock; and 3-on-3 champions, Burlock, George Solomon, Wyatt Allen and Hunter Reed.
College all-stars in the 13-15 age category were Evan Deschaine, Hunter Burpee, Malacai Fitzherbert, Brevin Barnes, Collin Bennett, Keegan Cyr, Camden Michaud, Noah Flynn, Joe Gregson, Lucas Haines, Jude Mosher and Kody Carter.
Gonzaga won the college division’s league title. The roster included Jacob Devine, Chase Coiley, Lucas Haines, Brevin Barnes, Grahm Stilz, Jack Hallett, Paul Bonner, Gavin Faye and Buddy Porter.
Special awards for college division: 1-on-1 champion, Camden Michaud; foul shooting, Brady Castonguay; coaches award, Brevin Barnes; most improved, John Coffin; best defense, Keegan Cyr; and 3-on-3 champions, Joey Michaud, Evan Deschaine and Kaden Tardif.
High school division MVP: Dylan Burpee; college division MVP, Evan Deschaine.
Girls
High school division all-stars were Phoebe Solomon, Olivia Locke, Jorja Maynard, Reagan Deschene, Reese McPherson, Emma Casavant, Sydney Lavigne, Calli Sylvia, Grace Flewelling, Isabel Berry, Karlyn Gilmour and Ainsley Caron.
The Bears were the league champions in the high school division. Team members were Brynn Bard, Stevie Pierce, Kale Kinney, Allie Casavant, Isabel Berry, Karyssa Kenney, Mylee Sylvia and Grace Flewelling.
Special awards for high school division: 1-on-1 champion, Calli Sylvia; foul shooting, Olivia Locke; coaches award, Stevie Pierce; most improved, Liv Adams; best defense, Olivia Locke; and 3-on-3 champions, Kiera Tompkins, Ella-Hall Michaud and Grace Flewelling.
College division all-stars were Gabby Sutherland, Maci Beals, Madison Shields, Anna Jandreau, Hattie Bubar, Drew Warman, Alaina Legassie, Maddie Russell, Riley Kinney, Raegan Chavez, Maggie Castonguay and Faith Sjoberg.
Husson won the college division’s league title. The roster included Drew Warman, Emma Swallow, Mia Thibodeau, Camille Callnan, Maddie Russell and Raegen Chavez.
