HOULTON, Maine — A Conservation Innovation Grant Field Day will be held Wednesday, Aug. 16 at Donald Fitzpatrick’s farm on Jordan Road. The field day is part of the Southern Aroostook Soil and Water Conservation District’s Conservation Innovation Grant project funded through NRCS.
Brendon Rockey, a third generation biotic potato farmer in Colorado growing specialty and seed potatoes using companion crops and cover crops, will be the guest speaker.
Other field day speakers include Mark Fulford, CIG project advisor and farm consultant, and Will Brinton, founder of Woods End Laboratories. The workshop begins with registration at 8:30am with presentations from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There is a $10 registration fee that includes lunch provided by the Vault Restaurant.
The following credits will be available: Pesticide credits tbd; and 5.5 Certified Crop Advisor credits (3 soil/water, 1.5 crop mgmt., 1 NM). For more information on the speakers or the CIG Field Day, go to www.saswcd.org. Those needing special accommodations should contact the district.
