New pastor for catholic church

HOULTON, Maine — St. Mary of the Visitation, as well as St. Agnes Church in Island Falls and St. Paul Church in Patten have welcomed Father Kent R. Ouellette as the newly-appointed pastor.

A native of St. Francis, Father Ouellette is a graduate of St. Francis Elementary School, Fort Kent High School and the University of Maine at Orono, where he earned a bachelor’s degree. He holds a master’s of divinity degree from St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore, Maryland.

Father Ouellette was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Richard J. Malone on June 4, 2005, at St. Charles Borromeo Church in St. Francis. Before entering the seminary, he spent 20 years as an engineer at Comterm Inc. in Maynard, Massachusetts; Sanders Associates in Nashua, New Hampshire; and both Fairchild and National Semiconductor in South Portland.  

The Mass of Installation for Father Ouellette will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 4 at 6 p.m. by Reverend Jean-Paul Labrie. A reception will follow in the parish center, and all are welcome.
