MARTIN A. QUALEY, BENEDICTA – Martin A. Qualey, 33, died July 24, 2017. He was born February 16, 1984 in Biddeford, the son of Alec and Mona (Roy) Qualey. He graduated from Katahdin High School and became a heavy equipment operator, working in the North Maine woods maintaining roads and bridges and also plowing lots of snow in the winter.
Martin was an avid outdoorsman who loved snowboarding, sledding, boating and camping, but his passion was fishing. At an early age he learned that passion at the side of his mother as they fished the local brooks in companionship, love and the pure joy of sharing nature’s glory, which he, in turn, shared with his daughter, Grace.
He is survived by his daughter, Grace and her mother Krystal Daggett; his parents: Alec and Mona Qualey; his grandmother, Rowena Qualey; a dear friend Amber Rose Bouchard and her daughter Kayden; his aunts and uncles and many, many cousins and dear friends (his “brothers and sisters from other mothers”).
A Mass of Christian Burial and interment at St. Benedict’s Cemetery was held July 27th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a scholarship fund for his daughter, Grace, c/o Krystal Daggett, PO Box 13, Benedicta, ME 04733. His bright smile and sense of humor will be missed. Our children are God’s children and they are only given to us on loan. To leave an online condolence please visit www.bowersfuneral.com.
