ASHLAND, Maine — The search is on for a new girls’ varsity basketball coach at Ashland District School.
Whitney Flint said she has decided to step down due “largely to family and personal life reasons.” SAD 32 Athletic Director Mark Stanley confirmed Flint’s resignation and said “the search is on for her replacement.”
She is a 2008 graduate of Ashland and was a four-year starter. She was on the high school coaching staff for a total of five seasons, three as the varsity coach and two others as the JV coach.
Flint coached the team during the 2013-14 season, took a year off and then returned to coach the past two seasons. Flint’s teams accumulated a 20-36 overall record during her tenure and made the Class D North playoffs last winter. The Hornets beat East Grand in a preliminary playoff game to get Ashland into the Class D regional tournament for the first time in nine years, the last coincidentally being Flint’s senior year.
The Hornets lose just one player from last year’s squad which went 9-11 overall.
