KEVIN WADE MERRY, SHERMAN – Kevin Wade Merry, 53, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a hard battle with congestive heart failure. Kevin was born in Island Falls, Maine, on March 26, 1964, the son of Conrad and Beverley Merry.
Kevin graduated from Katahdin High School in 1982 and went to work for Sherman Lumber Company until becoming a self-employed truck driver for his business K.W. Merry Inc. in 1994. During his career he met many lifelong friends on the road.
Kevin is survived by his mother Beverley, his beloved wife of twenty-five years Darcy Albert Merry, his two daughters MacKenzie and Carly Merry of Sherman, his beloved sister and brother-in-law Jennifer and Jonathan Stevens of Island Falls, brother and sisters-in-law Ryan and Tammy Albert of Bangor, Jason and Elizabeth Albert of Hermon, and Lindsay and Adam Hall of Bangor, two nieces Jaelen and Sydney Albert of Hermon and one nephew Jaxton Hall of Bangor, his mother and father-in-law Sandra and Paul Albert of Sherman, grandmother in law Margaret Duffy of Patten, lifelong best friend and brother at heart Maurice Nye, many cousins, aunts and uncles, and many friends. Kevin was recently predeceased by his beloved father and friend Conrad Merry.
When Kevin wasn’t working you could usually find him on his parents farm or enjoying the outdoors, whether it was snowsledding, four wheeling, hunting, fishing, or simply enjoying a drink by a campfire with friends and family. Kevin and Darcy spent many of their younger days traveling and he loved to take his girls to see new places. Kevin truly blessed the grounds his two daughters walked on and considered them his biggest accomplishments. Although Kevin left many people in this world with broken hearts, he will be happily remembered for his jolly spirit and his love for life. He never took things too seriously and his biggest joy in life was being around people. Kevin taught us all a lesson that family is above all things in life and the people you know and love should be your biggest treasures. Kevin was a true gentlemen and one of a kind who will be missed more than words could say. He was a wonderful son, husband, brother, father, worker, friend, and person.
Kevin would like his family to give a sincere thank you to Dr. Martin Hrynick and staff of Northwoods General Practice in Sherman for going above and beyond to care for him, along with all of the exceptional doctors at Eastern Maine Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital where he spent his last days. Kevin was thankful for everyday and had an extraordinary will to live.
Services for Kevin were held on Saturday, August 5th at St. Benedicts Catholic Church in Benedicta. We thank each and every one of you for making an impact on Kevin’s life and also in ours.
