LILLIAN (HAGGERTY) LOVELY, DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, FL, AND NEW LIMERICK – Lillian (Haggerty) Lovely, 85, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at a Daytona Beach hospital. She was born December 24, 1931 in Houlton, the daughter of Henry Haggerty Sr. and Annie Alberta (Estey) Haggerty.
Lillian grew up in Houlton and was a graduate of Houlton High School class of 1949. She then went to work at First National as a teller and after retired after forty-five years as Vice President in charge of operations at Key Bank in 1994. She married Lawrence Lovely on May 20, 1950 and they would share sixty-seven years of marriage together.
Lillian loved music and was a gifted piano player. She was a Salvation Army soldier and served as Song Brigade Leader and Bandmaster. Lillian was known to stand on the street corner and play the accordion and cornet for the street meetings. She was also a member of the McGill’s Community Band, a past member of the Rebekah Lodge, and served as a past president for their condo in Daytona Beach Shores. She will be remembered as being dedicated with whatever was placed before her, and a proud and loving grandmother.
She leaves behind her husband Lawrence Lovely of New Limerick, a daughter Brenda (Lovely) Sewell and her husband Herby of Linneus, two grandchildren, Jeffery Sewell of Daytona Beach, Jamie Sewell of Linneus, a special cousin who was raised as a sister Ruth (Wotton) Sargent of Dover, NH, three sisters-in-law Letha Haggerty of Auburn, Carol Haggerty formerly of Houlton, Lois Haggerty of New Limerick and Daytona, as well as several special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by three brothers, Henry Haggerty Jr., Lawrence Haggerty, and David Haggerty.
Friends called 2-4 p.m. Sunday, August 6, 2017 at the New Limerick Baptist Church. Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Monday, August 7, at the church with Major Dixon of the Salvation Army officiating. Interment took place at New Limerick Cemetery. The family invited relatives and friends for a time of refreshment at the church fellowship hall following the committal.
