CARIBOU, Maine — Caribou High School graduates and members of the community are invited to participate in a unique running event at the high school on Friday, Aug. 25.
The 11th annual Alumni/Community Cross Country Race will be run that evening under the lights on the CHS course, which is 2.75 miles long. Registration will be at 6:30 p.m. with the race starting at 7:45 p.m.
There will be several racing categories, including eighth grade and under, high school, 20-29 years of age, 30-39, 40-49 and 50 and over. There also will be a division for elite runners.
Runners can compete as individuals or as part of a team. Teams may have up to five runners and must have at least three to score. Scoring will be by place instead of finishing time. There will be divisions for men’s, women’s and coed teams.
Runners will start in various groups according to their age category, with each group starting one minute apart “so everyone has a fair chance of winning,” according to race director Roy Alden.
There is no entry fee and all winners will receive race T-shirts. For more information, contact Alden at 762-0905.
