HODGDON, Maine — A Linneus man suffered serious injuries Aug. 14 when he lost control of his motorcycle while riding in Hodgdon.
Ronald DuPont, 49, was operating a 1985 Honda Goldwing motorcycle on the Hodgdon Mills Road at about 5:18 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, when he lost control, causing the motorcycle to flip end-over-end, according to Cpl. Dennis Quint of the Maine State Police.
DuPont, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle which came to rest in a ditch. Quint said DuPont was able to call his wife, who transported him to the emergency room of Houlton Regional Hospital. The motorcyclist later was flown to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor via LifeFlight for serious injuries that were not considered life threatening, according to the corporal.
A passing motorist reported the crash to police. Quint said DuPont informed him he was testing the motorcycle when the kickstand fell down, causing the crash.
DuPont did not have a motorcycle license and was subsequently summoned for operating without a license.
