PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The 12th annual TD Bank/Northern Maine Community College Golf Tournament raised $27,651 for student scholarships — the most successful year ever — during last week’s tournament and auction. Thirty-one teams of three participated in the scramble at the Aroostook Valley Country Club in Fort Fairfield Aug. 10.
The sponsorships and donations from many local businesses amounted to more than $16,000, the highest in the tournament’s history. The live and silent auction items raised nearly $6,000 with items including tickets to a Boston Bruins game, jerseys autographed by Boston Bruins players and an autographed football from New England Patriot Rob “Gronk” Gronkowski.
“TD Bank is very pleased with our collaboration with Northern Maine Community College Foundation,” said Jeff Pangburn, vice president, relationship manager in commercial services. “This tournament has provided a wonderful opportunity to get together with our clients and others in the community for a day of fun and support of NMCC students.”
“We are very grateful to TD Bank for its support of this tournament. We appreciate all the sponsors who were so generous to us and to all the players who prioritized a day to come out in support of NMCC students,” said Gregg Collins, chair of the NMCC Foundation. “In our 12-year history, this tournament has raised a total of $211,600 for scholarships. We are both proud and thankful to our wonderful community.”
The winning team at the tournament was Tom Towle, Paul Towle and Danny Ayoob. First net went to the team of Bill Egeler, Bill Casavant and Steve Clark. Second net went to Gregg Collins, Chris Richards and Neal Griffeth and the team of Shawn Anderson, Erik Anderson and Joe Sleeper took third net.
