EASTON – Charles ‘Eddie’ Rattray, 88, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill. He was born November 3, 1928 in Rowena, N.B., Canada, the son of Winslow and Inez (Caldwell) Rattray.
Over a 50-year working life, Eddie excelled at a range of jobs, from tending horses in lumber camps, to farming for Vahlsing and local farmers, to working maintenance at McCain Foods. He enjoyed snowmobiling and was very active in the Easton Trailbreakers Club, driving the groomer and maintaining the trails. He and Alta enjoyed biking and walking, camping and canoeing in the Northern Maine Woods, and spending time with family and friends.
Eddie is survived by his wife Alta (Fitzherbert) Rattray of Easton; three sons and their wives: Gary and Georgette of Auburn, Jeffrey and Jane of Leominster, MA, Russell and Melinda of Dunbarton, NH; a daughter Dianne Hersey of Presque Isle; a sister Ethel Tweedie of Greenfield, N.B., Canada; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Eddie was predeceased by brothers Fred, Gordon and Malcolm, and a sister Dorothy “Dot” Hamilton.
Relatives and friends may call at 12:00 noon, Friday, August 25, 2017 at Duncan Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle where funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM with Rev. Larry Palmer officiating. Interment will be at Estes Park Cemetery, Easton.
