Destination Unknown, piloted by Mark Stodolski of Auburn, Mass., floats over Presque Isle early Friday morning. Still skies allowed pilots to launch their hot-air balloons from the Northern Maine Fairgrounds on the first full day of the Crown of Maine Balloon Fest. Launches depend heavily on weather and wind conditions, but will tentatively get under way at 5:30 p.m. Friday, 5:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 5:30 a.m. Sunday. Other festival activities at the Presque Isle fairgrounds include Friday and Saturday evening balloon glows, a meet-and-greet with pilots, free live music, vendors and a craft fair, an outdoor movie and tethered balloon rides.
