CARIBOU, Maine — Two men and one woman allegedly forced a male victim into a car at knifepoint, beat him up, and ditched him in the parking lot of a local hotel, according to a police report.
The Caribou Police Department received a call from the hotel at approximately 3:35 a.m. on August 15, according to a press release from Caribou Police Chief Michael Gahagan, informing law enforcement that there was an individual in the parking lot claiming he had been beat up.
Police arrested James Sam, 34, of Caribou, Bobby Nightingale, 36, of Presque Isle, and Morgann Towle, 19, of Fort Fairfield, subsequently charging them with class A kidnapping and robbery, class B aggravated assault, and class D theft.
Gahagan wrote that police also charged Sam with violation of bail, and that, due to multiple prior convictions, his theft charge was elevated to a class C felony.
Police impounded Towle’s vehicle following the incident to collect evidence of the crime.
Sam, Nightingale and Towle all failed to make bail, and are now in Aroostook County Jail in Houlton. They are scheduled to appear in court on October 5.
