Theriault keeps winning streak alive in karting finale

CARIBOU, Maine — Damian Theriault of Caribou picked up his 26th consecutive feature win and the points title in his division at the final Northern Maine Karting Association points race of 2017, held Friday, Aug. 25, at Spud Speedway. 

Theriault prevailed in the Aroostook Savings and Loan Senior Cage Kart Class, beating out runner-up Jason Theriault of Caribou and third-place finisher Tom Hale of Westmanland for the top spot.

Brayden Thibodeau of Limestone took the checkered flag in the Aroostook Trusses Junior Cage Kart Class. Bryan Searles and Ronnie Lynn Kelly, both of Presque Isle, were second and third, respectively.

The points championship was determined following the race slate and Damian Theriault scored 142 points for the easy win in the Senior Cage Class for ages 13 and up. Jason Theriault was next with 97 and Hale was third with 75. Janet Bosse (52) and Marcel Bosse (12) followed.

Searles won the Junior Cage Class (ages 8-12) by totalling 122 points. Gage Theriault was second with 102 and Kelly was third with 25.

Parker Bosse of Limestone and Kayden Haines of Caribou were the competitors in the Kids Kart division for 5-7 year olds, which was run as an exhibition only.

The Northern Maine Karting Association will host the State Invitational Kart Races on Sept. 9 at Spud Speedway. Three divisions, Kids Kart, Junior Cage and Senior Cage, will be offered. Pit gates open at 8:30 a.m., practice is from 9-10:45 a.m., heat races go from 11-11:50 a.m. and feature races are from 12:15-1 p.m. A tech inspection will follow before awards are presented.
