PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Otis Frederick Munson died on August 23rd, 2017, in his 90th year.
‘Fred’ was born in Presque Isle, Maine, on the 11th of May, 1928 to Crystal Johnston Munson and Otis Perley Munson. His mother died when he was a small boy and his father remarried, Vera Anderson Munson.
He was raised by his aunt, Lillian Munson Ramsdell and Llewellyn Ramsdell on their Washburn Road farm. On that same farm, with his wife, Mildred Dumond Munson, they raised their family of four sons.
Fred graduated from PIHS where he was an avid member of the Future Farmers of America. He thereafter served in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Hawaii immediately following WWII. He returned to Aroostook County and farmed with his uncle for many years. Later, he was employed as a buyer with Maine Potato Growers until he retired in 1990.
He is survived by his wife ‘Millie’ of Presque Isle and their four sons: Brian of Presque Isle, Jeffrey (Lorrie) of Presque Isle, Kerry (Ken) of Toronto and Scott (Jayne) of Falmouth, as well as his six grandchildren:
Jeremy, Andreanna, Chelsea, Taylor, Haylee, and Colbi, and two great-grandchildren: Kaylee and Lexie. He is also survived by: his sister, Lois Munson Morrill (David) of Cape Elizabeth, his brother Keith Munson (Dawn) of Apache Junction, Arizona and his cousin, Elna Hall Mercer of Zephyr Hills, Florida.
There will be a private interment service in the family plot of the Johnson Cemetery in Presque Isle.
