WOODLAND, Maine – Candice J. ‘Candy’ Hallowell, 70, went to be with her Lord and Savior, August 21, 2017 at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born in Caribou, June 23, 1947 the daughter of Richard H. and Zelma (Parsons) Johnson.
Candy was a 1965 graduate of Caribou High School, and attended the Northern Maine Technical College – where she trained to become a LPN/CNA. She worked as a LPN in the nursery at Cary Memorial Hospital and then Cary Medical Center for many years. She married Richard Hallowell III on July 2, 1966.
Mrs. Hallowell was a longtime faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Woodland, where she was active in many groups and organizations including the missions circle, and also served as a church deaconess. Candice loved to quilt and sew and especially enjoyed cooking for her family.
In addition to her husband, Richard, of Woodland, she is survived by their children, Bethany and husband Rick Thibeault of Caribou, and Richard Hallowell IV and wife Kirsten of Pittsfield, grandchildren, Ian Connor, Kyra, Richard V and Olivia, a brother, Richard and wife Cheryl Johnson of Dallas, TX, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and an infant brother, Dale.
Friends called at the First Baptist Church of Woodland on Monday, August 28, 2017 from 12 p.m. until time of services which were held at 1 p.m. with Rev. Ron Rosser officiating. Interment was in the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery.
