PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The first American Collegiate Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week in volleyball has been awarded to a freshman outside hitter from the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
Miranda Washinawatok of Shawano, Wisconsin, earned the honor with her efforts that helped lead the Owls to a 3-1 record over the weekend in Bangor.
Washinawatok averaged 3.8 kills per set while hitting at .236 percent. She also added six service aces and 21 digs to her effort in an opening weekend that saw the Owls defeat College of St. Joseph of Rutland, Vermont, Unity College and UM-Machias. The only loss for the Owls was to the host school, Husson University.
The ACAA is in the first year of operation with eight current members of the conference.
