CARIBOU, Maine — The final summer meeting of Aroostook Retired Educators’ Association will be held Sept. 26, at the Caribou Inn and Convention Center. Registration will begin at 11 a.m. with a $15 chicken dinner served at noon. Musical selections will be provided by the ever popular Dan Ladner.
The guest speaker will be Kevin St. Peter of the Caribou Police Department discussing scams and spams. The always beautiful Remembrance Service will honor this year’s deceased employees of county schools. Also on the agenda is the election of officers for the next two years.
Janet Woods has reported that the recipient of the Bulging Backpack Project this year is Fort Street School (K-6) in Mars Hill. Donations for the project can still be brought to the September meeting and the school will receive the additional donations. Also donations of nonperishable food items will still be accepted at that meeting.
Dues of $7 are still being accepted. All retired educators are encouraged to join. Information, involvement, and renewal of friendships are key components of AREA.
