The Caribou Parks and Recreation Department opened its pee wee soccer season the week of Aug. 28. The Premier League is for grades 3-4 and the World League for grades 5-6.
D.C. United vs. Red Bulls
The D.C. United team played the Red Bulls team in the opening Premier League game Aug. 28. In a great game played by both teams, Levi Cole scored his first goal of the season from a Mollie Crane assist for the Red Bulls in the first half. Declan Miller put one in the back of the net from Emily Hite’s pass. Kody Tracy and Cole shared time in goal and stopped some of the D.C. United’s scoring opportunities.
D.C. United put two goals in the net in the first half as Landen Belanger and Carsen Richards both scored unassisted goals. Belanger sealed the game with his second goal, which came in the second half. Great defense was played by Bella Clayton and Lucas Landeen.
Revolution vs. Galaxy
The second game pitted the Galaxy against the Revolution. The Revs were forced to play some heavy defense, which was handled nicely by Liv Adams and Kaden Guerrette and first-quarter goalkeeper Joey Jandreau, who showed no fear guarding the goal. Jandreau also scored the first goal of the season when he played striker in the third quarter. Brody Disy played a phenomenal game at striker for the Revolution in the loss.
Game scorers for the Galaxy team were Lucas Cormier, Cayden Ala and Owen Corrigan in the first half. In the second half, Ala had two more to complete a “hat trick.” Corrigan put another in the back of the net and Lily McCrossin finished a goal off as well. Caela Day and Faith Lagasse played well defensively.
Red Bulls vs. Galaxy
In a tough matchup Aug. 30, the Red Bulls managed to get one ball across the goal line as Declan Miller assisted Brady Barnes. Brynne Hamilton and Levi Cole played very well on defense by breaking up many offensive runs by the Galaxy.
For the Galaxy, Cayden Ala scored another “hat trick” with a goal in the first half and two in the second. Corrigan joined Ala and delivered a “hat trick” of his own. Lucas Cormier assisted one of Ala’s goals. Brock Gagnon also put a lot of pressure on the Red Bulls’ defense and the Galaxy’s Jeremy Martin and Rylee Williams played well on defense.
Revolution vs. Timbers
In its second game of the season on Aug. 30, the Revolution played well together which resulted in a win over the Timbers. Kaden Guerrette scored the first goal followed by Brody Disy, who also scored his second goal in the fourth quarter. Liv Adams brought in another goal on a penalty kick and Joey Jandreau also scored with a beautiful assist from Nic Plourde, who also was able to score himself in the fourth quarter. Blake Kelly stopped an attempt by the Timbers during his third-quarter stint in goal. Gracie Rossignol, Chloe Boma and Heather Gustin helped to hold down the defense against the Timbers and Zay Gagnon played well as a midfielder and hustled to ensure the ball stayed in the offensive position.
Ben Bouchard scored Timber’s lone goal. Marshall Hersey and Gage Theriault turned in strong performances in goal. Good hustle was displayed by Phoebe Butler, Trent Hersey and Hannah Willey-Forbes.
Brazil vs. USA
In World League play Aug. 28, Brayden Brescia scored the lone goal for the USA on a penalty kick but the team was unable to generate any more offense in the loss to Brazil. The game was close throughout as both teams demonstrated good defense and lots of hustle. Calvin Hersey made an outstanding save as the USA goalie when he dove and slapped out what looked like a sure goal on a penalty kick by Brazil. Joslyn Griffeth nearly scored on a nice centering pass from Jaden Picard. Outstanding defense by Jayden Fournier, Joshua Pitre and Gage Hale helped keep the ball away from the USA goal.
For Team Brazil, Damarion Gagnon, Konnor Huckins and Tristan Robbins each put the ball in the net. Brazil started slowly, but quickly found the recipe by connecting passes and play like a team. Aaron Saucier played great defensively.
Colombia vs. Brazil
On Aug. 30, Brazil played tough against Colombia as Aaron Saucier found the upper 90 and Konnor Huckins connected on two goals. Landyn Waldemarson, Lauren Lister and Madelynn Cote all showed great hustle and team work.
Keegan Bell and Ty Hunter all made some great offensive runs for Colombia, but couldn’t get the ball past the goal line. Jace Violette played great on defense.
