WADE, Maine — A 68-year-old Washburn man was found dead Saturday morning following a utility-terrain-vehicle crash.
Sterling Levesque was traveling west on the New Dunntown Road when he lost control of his 2015 CF Moto UTV, according to Aroostook County Sheriff Darrell Crandall. The vehicle went off the road and struck a tree before coming to rest in an area of brush.
Levesque was ejected from the UTV and died as a result of injuries he sustained.
The crash was reported to the sheriff’s office at about 10 a.m. Saturday, but “the exact time of the crash is not known, as Levesque had not been seen since Thursday night,” Crandall said in a press release issued Sunday. The release did not indicate who discovered the accident.
Deputy Sheriff Reid Clark investigated the crash. Clark determined Levesque was not wearing a helmet, but the cause of the crash and the death remain under investigation.
Assisting with the accident were Deputy Sheriff Sgt. Matt Cummings, Warden Ryan Fitzpatrick, State Police Sgt. Jeff Clark and Trooper Andrew Levesque, as well as members of Crown Ambulance Service.
The Maine Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is also involved with the case.
