Riverside Park continues its transformation as the Splash Pad project nears completion. This new element of Riverside will drastically increase usage in the park as well as boost visitors in the downtown. Unfortunately, completion of the pad is still out a few more weeks and due to the quickly cooling temperatures, usage of the pad will have to wait until next spring.
The much anticipated Splash Pad covers about 5,000 square feet and sprays about 275 gallons of re-circulated water per minute. Sized to hold as many as 150 kids at one time, the pad has no standing water and requires no lifeguards. With twenty active water spray features, this project offers all ages, a fun, playful and safe way to cool off. For the youngest of kids, features like the Cascade, the Spidey Spray and the Water Journey will keep them entertained for hours. Kids a little older will enjoy the Bucket Trio and/or the Frog. While the teens and even the adults, will find the draw of Spray Cannons and the Super Splash irresistible. The twenty foot high Super Splash builds anticipation as the giant bucket fills and spills over with a massive splash, drenching all those within its reach.
The newly renovated Riverside building will provide changing stalls and restrooms for the entire park. The recently constructed parking lot at Riverside, combined with the parking lot adjacent to the courthouse will offer ample places for visitors to park. This new Splash Pad at Riverside will re-energize the park like it has never seen and we here at the Rec Department cannot wait.
