LUDLOW, Maine — The Ludlow Board of Selectmen bid a fond farewell to selectman Dana Miller Wednesday evening following his retirement from the board.
Miller was presented with a card and cake during Wednesday evening’s regular monthly meeting.
“It was a pleasure working with you,” board chairman Theron Bickford said. “I know I speak for everyone here, when I say you will be missed. You have been a tip of the spear for this board. You were instrumental in moving this town forward and we wouldn’t be where we are today without you.”
Miller served on the town’s planning board for two years, starting in 2012, before joining the board of selectmen. His term expired in August and he did not seek re-election. His seat was filled by Roxanne Bruce.
Miller said he felt the time was right for some new blood to join the board.
“Everything was running real well here in town, and I am getting older, so I felt the time was right,” he said. “Plus, I want to do some traveling.”
Born and raised in Houlton, Miller retired from his job as a park attendant and ranger at Baxter State Park in 2016. He worked for the park for about 31 years. He has been a resident of Ludlow since 1974.
“I loved it,” he said. “It was a great job.”
