Santa’s Workshop photo session fundraiser

Folks ready to get a jump on family Christmas photos can help out a worthy cause at the same time at a Santa’s Workshop photo session fundraiser to be held in Caribou and New Canada in the coming weeks.

Louise and Garry Bouchard of Fort Kent are hosting the photo shoots and all proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

Louise Bouchard and Emily Rooney will photograph subjects while Garry Bouchard operates lighting. A variety of Christmas season themed backdrops are available and a professional Santa Claus of 17 years, Andrew Nolan and his wife, Lisa, who dresses up as Mrs. Claus will be at both sites to pose with children if they wish. Mrs. Claus will provide holiday games and activities for children who attend the event.

The Clauses also will be serving hot cocoa and apple cider refreshments to those who attend the photo sessions.

Kearston Albert of Fort Kent visits Santa’s Workshop at a fundraising photo shoot held in Madawaska to benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Two more sessions are planned, one in Caribou and another in New Canada, later this month and in early October to raise money for the cause. (Louise Bouchard)

Louise Bouchard said she and her husband have 20 years of photography experience between them, and are motivated to support a cause near and dear to them both.

“The reason we relay is because Garry and I both lost our fathers to cancer,” she said. “Relay for Life is the fundraising arm to the American Cancer Society so throughout the year each team raises money for the American Cancer Society. This is one of the fundraisers our team is doing. Our team’s name is ‘pictures of hope.’ Most of our team members are photographers or involved in the field.”

Sheri Albert of Fort Kent and her family attended a fundraising photo session previously held in Madawaska. Albert’s young daughter Kearston is a leukemia survivor.

“We feel others should go have their pictures done because it’s a great fundraiser, raising money to help with research in the fight against cancer,” Abert said. “People tend to let it hit home before they donate, and honestly I think that’s how a lot of people are. I’m just trying to shine a brighter light on the need for donations.”

The Caribou photography session will take place 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Caribou Inn and Convention Center. The New Canada session will be held 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at the New Canada Community Center.

The cost is $40 for five edited images on a thumb drive which the Bouchards will provide. The person buying the photographs also will own the rights to them.

Sponsors of the Santa’s Workshop photo session fundraiser are Paradis Shop ‘n Save, Valley Motors, and Pelletier Ford.
