PINE POINT AND MAPLETON, Maine – Grammy Mary quietly left us on September 14, 2017, with family holding her hand, as she listened to the sound of the waves crashing and watched the sunlight coming into the window, at the Portland Center for Assisted Living. She was born in Dennysville, Maine, on April 22, 1927 and she always liked to be near the water. Anytime she could see the big blue water, hear the waves crash, or smell the salt air a big smile came upon her face.
A life well lived, full of memories, some happy and some sad, that left her with no regrets as she passed. Grammy was known for her hospitality; an extra plate and chair was always at the table the minute you walked through her door.
Her proudest achievement was her family. From the humble life she led, she took great pride and sense of joy in all the accomplishments each generation has made. From the birth or adoption of a child, graduations or weddings, birthdays or holidays, she enjoyed having her family together. She also let you know if you purchased a new car, home or other expensive item, you better take care of it.
She was predeceased by her only love, Richard “Dick” Lyons, September 11, 1978, a special son-in-law Carroll Langille Sr., January 7, 2010, and her first-born daughter, whom she missed deeply, Berniece Coty, October 20, 2010.
She is remembered with love by her son Robert Lyons and his wife, Bonnie of Calais, ME; her daughter, Marcia Langille, of Pine Point, ME; and her son Edwin Lyons and his wife Nancy of Chapman, ME. She is also survived by her grandchildren Annette Staples and husband Craig, Tommy Stevens, Mike Stevens, Troy Coty, Robert Lyons Jr. and wife Rhonda, Tobbie Ackley and husband Jason, Brent Lyons and Keri, Wendy Copeland and husband Brian, Carroll Langille Jr and wife Jennifer, and Joseph Lyons and wife Val.
Her kind and generous soul will be greatly missed by her great-grandchildren, Kyle Staples and wife Melissa, Emily Staples, Ashley Kennedy and husband Jamie, Christopher Stevens, Chelsea Adams, Courtney Ruest, Kayla Carney, Seth and Jeremy Stevens, Robert III and Alecia Lyons, Kersti and Tyler Ackley, Rayna and Shawn Lyons, Braighton, Molly, Addison, Jonathan and Charlie Copeland, Emma, Maxx, Mason, and Naomi Langille. Then came the great-great-grandchildren.
At Grammy Mary’s request, there will be no calling hours, only a remembrance celebration at interment in Dennysville Cemetery. Grammy loved her animals so in lieu of flowers, please donate money, supplies or your time to a local animal rescue organization in her memory.
