Six games involving local teams were played Tuesday to wrap up regular season play in varsity soccer.
The final Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point standings have been announced and the preliminary round of the playoffs begins Friday.
Summaries of Tuesday’s matchups follow:
Caribou girls 4, Fort Kent 0 — The Vikings took over the No. 1 position in the Class B North standings by scoring three goals late in the first half and an insurance goal in the second half during a home victory over the Warriors.
Willow Whitten, Hope Shea, Meagan Dube and Alexis Rodriguez all reached the scoring column. For Dube, it was her first career goal. Ashley Matlock and Searra Herbert had assists for the 13-1 Vikings.
Jaelynn Doody and Sage Dubay combined for three saves on as many shots and Lyndsay Ouellette made 10 saves on 15 shots for the Class C playoff-bound Warriors (7-7).
Presque Isle girls 2, Brewer 1 — After a scoreless first half in Brewer, Maddie Michaud put the Wildcats on top five minutes into the second half before Cassidy Smith tied it for the Witches. Michaud then put in her second goal with six minutes remaining to give PI its 11th win against three losses.
Savannah Rodriguez was credited with 24 saves and Brewer’s Libby Hewes had 10. The Witches closed out the year at 8-4-2. If Brewer wins its prelim game over Oceanside, the Wildcats and Witches could meet again in the quarterfinal round at Presque Isle next Tuesday.
Fort Fairfield boys 5, Washburn 0 — The Tigers easily handled the Beavers in Washburn behind goals from Isaac Cyr, Jared Harvey, Dawson Watson, Jonah Daigle and Alex Sprague.
Fort Fairfield’s Malcolm Langner got the shutout in goal. Fort Fairfield finished up at 11-3 and Washburn ended up 2-12.
Washburn girls 3, Fort Fairfield 1 — Kassie Farley’s second-half hat trick lifted the host Beavers past the Tigers for the sweep of the season series.
Alexis Carney and Raegyn Chavez each had assists and Carly Bragg had 15 saves on 18 shots for Washburn (7-5-2).
Kennedy Bencivenga gave the Tigers the early lead with a goal five minutes in. Emily Everitt and Chantelle Simon combined for the goalkeeping chores and had 21 saves on 27 shots. Fort Fairfield finished with a 2-11-1 record.
Ashland boys 1, Wisdom 0 — Dylan Haley’s unassisted goal with 12 minutes to play in the game gave the home team Hornets the victory.
Ashland enjoyed a 20-2 advantage in shots on goal and Steven Bellanceau came away with the shutout. The Hornets evened their regular season mark to 6-6-2 and Wisdom went 3-11.
Ashland girls 14, Wisdom 0 — The Hornets had won a close game in St. Agatha earlier in the season, but this time they picked up the clear victory to finish at 13-1.
Amber Chasse tallied four goals, while Shelby Stolze and Morgan Doughty each had a hat trick. Doughty also garnered three assists on the evening. Also netting goals for Ashland were Willow Hall, Olivia Tardie, Danni Carter and Kassandra Nelson.
Megan Cote turned away all seven shots she faced for her ninth shutout of the season in goal. Ashland collected 40 shots against Wisdom goalkeeper Emma Chamberland, who had 15 saves. Wisdom’s record on the regular season is 7-6-1.
