The Washburn Middle School boys’ team propelled the school to first place in the 2017 Aroostook League Middle School Cross Country Championship, held Oct. 11 at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Other top schools in the two-mile run were Caribou Middle School, second place; Presque Isle Middle School, third; Greater Houlton Christian Academy, fourth; and Woodland Consolidated School, fifth. The overall boys race winner was Daniel Arce of Washburn, with a time of 12:10:60.
