Members and guests of the Oakfield Senior Citizens met at the Smoki-Haulers Snowmobile club for their “Halloween” meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
Mr. Locke called the business meeting to order after our potluck luncheon and the clean-up were completed.
All reports were read and accepted. Delores Locke had a sign-up sheet for those wanting to participate in the Secret Pal program with the fourth-grade students at Southern Aroostook Community School. It is a fun exchange of letters with a student, and just before the Christmas holiday the students come by bus and we find out who we have been writing to, sing some songs, have a snack, take some pictures and have a fun time.
Ellie Peck was the 50/50 winner.
October birthdays were recognized.
Lots of pumpkins and Halloween critters decorated the walls and tables. Thanks, Marie.
It was then time for our Halloween costume parade, with Alma Russell as the first-place winner and Nacie Fowler in second place. Honorable mention went to our guests Sara and Jeremiah Kennedy. Thanks to all who participated.
Attending were: Marie Gillotti, Arlene Friel, Bob and Delores Locke, Mildred Gagnon, Verna Boone, Wannetta Townsend, Jeanne Clements, George Barrow, Ellie Peck, Nacie Fowler, Don and Charlotte Marley, Alma Russell, Earl and Lottie Doughty, guests Kerry and Connie Bartlett, Sara and Jeremiah Kennedy.
The next meeting will be on Nov. 1 at the usual time and place. All seniors are invited to join us.
