An approaching storm system is about to throw a wrench into what has been an unusually warm, dry Maine fall, likely dumping more than 3 inches of rain on parts of the state.
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for all of Maine and New Hampshire, with heavy rainstorms and warm air expected to sweep North along the East Coast from Tuesday through Thursday.
Forecasters expect the heavy rain to reach Maine Tuesday night on the heels of muggy tropical air. The weather service says about 2½ inches will fall at Maine’s southern tip, with totals rising to 3 inches in the Brunswick area. Towns across Central and coastal Maine are expected to see more than 3 inches of rain. Predicted rainfall totals are lower in northern Maine, but some areas could still see more than 2 inches or rain.
