PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Gertrude Marie Szrejna, 72, passed away Friday morning, October 20, 2017, at Southern Acres Residential Care Facility in Westfield. She was born on September 9, 1945, in Fort Kent, the daughter of Irene and Elise (Blanchard) Dumond.
Gertrude worked for Potato Service for over 20 years and Columbia Forest Products. She enjoyed crafting and quilting and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Parish of the Precious Blood in Presque Isle.
She is survived by her husband, Edmund Szrejna of Presque Isle, two daughters; Gail Farley and her husband, Ronald of Presque Isle and Sharon McLaughlin and her husband, Parker of Presque Isle, brother, Edward Dumond of Bristol, CT, three sisters; Dora Berube of Frenchville, Lena Belanger of Skowhegan and Robertine Long of Presque Isle, three grandchildren; Cody Brown, Breann and Dustin McLaughlin and six great grandchildren; Carter, Carson, Brycen, Hadlee, Dawson and Delilah.
In addition to her parents, Gertrude is predeceased by nine of her siblings.
Friends called 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, October 23, 2017, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church Street, Presque Isle. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Parish of the Precious Blood, Presque Isle. A reception followed the service at the K of C Hall. Interment was held at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Kent following the reception. Online condolences may be expressed at
