PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The American Collegiate Athletic Association named their Academic All-ACAA teams for women’s and men’s soccer recently and the University of Maine at Presque Isle is well represented.
Two women and two men from the UMPI teams were selected to the elite squads, while six women and two men made the honor roll.
Mikayla Churchill, a junior from Washburn, and Megan Seward, a junior from Chapman, were the UMPI women’s players selected. Churchill is a business administration major and Seward majors in athletic training.
On the men’s side, Chad Bartlett, a sophomore from Bradley, and Matt Manter, a senior from Caribou, were the choices. Bartlett is an athletic training major, while Manter majors in criminal justice.
Selected to the All-ACAA Honor Roll for women were Abby Deveau, a senior from Littleton; Jessy Dickison, a senior from Houlton; Taylor Howe, a sophomore from Easton; Jordi Legassie, a junior from Presque Isle; Allie Lopez, a senior from Kingfield; and Laura Sturgeon, a sophomore from Ashland. Picked for the men were Brandon Fuller, a senior from St. Albans; and Parker Thompson, a sophomore from Washburn.
Players need to have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher and have been at their respective university for at least a year to be nominated for the Academic All-ACAA team.
