WASHBURN, Maine – Catherine (Drost) Tilley, 77, died Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at a Mars Hill health-care facility, after a long illness. She was born March 3rd 1940, in Presque Isle Maine, the daughter of Byron P. and Grace (Farley) Drost.
She is survived by two sons, Alton Tilley Jr. and his wife Carol of Washburn, Maine, and Rev. William Tilley and his wife Jeanette of Southington, Connecticut; two brothers, Allen Drost and his wife Barbara of Ellington, Connecticut, and David Drost and his wife Barbara of Thonotosassa, Florida; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Burke and Sarah Tilley of Connecticut, Anna LaBier, Albert Landry, Andrew Landry, Gabriel Tilley and Destiny Tilley, all of Maine; four great-grandchildren, Stacy Landry, Sebastian LaBier and Justine LaBier, of Maine, Samantha Burke, of Connecticut; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her former husband, Alton Tilley, her daughter, Lori Ann Tilley, and her brother, John Drost.
Catherine had been a longtime resident of East Hartford, Connecticut, where she raised her family. She worked her whole career at Brittany Farms Health Center in New Britain, Connecticut. Upon retirement she returned to Washburn, where she spent many years enjoying her friends and family. Catherine had a passion for genealogy, history, and scrapbooking, which she combined to create family histories for the Drost family, the Tilley family, and many other relatives and contributed census research to the Washburn Historical Society. She was a member of the Washburn Pentecostal Church.
Calling hours were Monday, October 30 from 6 – 8 p.m., and a memorial service was held Tuesday, October 31 at 10 a.m., both at the Washburn Pentecostal Church in Washburn, Maine, with the Rev. Bruce Blakney officiating. There will be a memorial service Saturday, December 2 at 10 a.m. at Calvary Assembly of God in Southington, Connecticut. Interment will be in Riverside Extension Cemetery, Washburn, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Catherine to the Washburn Pentecostal Church, 1202 Main Street, Washburn, Maine 04786.
