SAINT JOHN’S, Fla. – Robert “Bob” Emilio Lupo, 83, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at his home in Saint John’s, Florida. Bob was born on February 10, 1934, in Newton, MA, to Louis and Alice Lupo. He graduated from Wellesley High School in 1952 and attended the University of Maine at Orono. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Michele, who was by his side.
Bob spent many years in retail, 32 of which he owned and operated Lupo’s Mens Wear in Caribou, ME. While living in Caribou, he also sat on the board for the Maine Loring Association for many years, serving as President for two years. He had a passion for the Rotary Club and took great pride in his perfect attendance for more than 30 years. When Loring Air Force Base closed, Bob and Michele headed for warmer weather and lived in Charlotte, NC, and then Jacksonville, FL, where Bob worked for Marcoa Publishing Company for 10 years.
Bob loved cooking and everyone who knew him enjoyed his famous chicken wings! He was an avid sports fan and loved his Boston Red Sox and NE Patriots. Bob was well read and could tell you any sports fact; he may even be the longest subscription holder for Sports Illustrated! If Bob wasn’t cooking or reading, he was usually bragging about his grandchildren; he loved them all dearly. Bob and Michele had many wonderful years together and shared their love of antiquing up and down the Coast of Maine.
Bob is survived by his wife, Michele of Saint John’s, FL; daughters, Laura Peterson of Brunswick, ME, and Catherine (Rob) Plourde of Durham, NH; sons, Father Rob Lupo of Bath, ME, Michael (Julie) Ouellette of Cape Elizabeth, ME, and Peter Ouellette of Scarborough, ME; grandchildren, Emily (Rob) Griffin, Alexandra Ouellette, Sophia Ouellette, Emma Ouellette, Olivia Ouellette, Lilly Ouellette, Evan Plourde, and Caitlyn Plourde; great-grandchild, Everett Griffin; sisters, Rosalie (Sid) Sparrow of Needham, MA, and Daria O’Donnell of Gorham, ME; a very special aunt, Pauline Richal of Needham, MA; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Alice; a special uncle, Bobby Richal; and nephew, Scott Sparrow.
The family thanks everyone who assisted with Bob’s care, especially Dave and Jane Dubois of Tallahassee, FL, Valerie Chow of Brunswick, ME, and Adam and Jude Reid of Saint John’s, FL.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. We all know Bob wouldn’t want money spent on flowers. In his honor, please take a kid to Fenway instead and revel in one of Bob’s passions.
