CARIBOU, Maine – Therese Bossie, 84, wife of the late Camille Bossie, died October 25, 2017 at Caribou. She was born at Fort Kent, August 7, 1933, the daughter of the late Ceasar and Yvonne (Martin) Long.

She was a graduate of Fort Kent High School as well as Fort Kent Teachers’ College (UMFK). Therese began her teaching career in a one room schoolhouse in Fort Kent. She moved to Caribou in 1953 and taught disabled students in her home helping them obtain their high school diploma. She taught grade 2 and bilingual kindergarten for the Caribou School Department. Mrs. Bossie had a passion for teaching, a love for all children, and touched the lives of her many students during her 35 year teaching career. She was a long time member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church where she was also a member of the Ladies of St. Anne. Affectionately known as “memere” to the staff and residents of the Caribou Nursing Home for the past 4 years, Therese is survived by her children, Gayle Smart, Sharon Olmstead, Rick Bossie and Craig Bossie and his wife Cheryl all of Caribou. Her grandchildren Joshua and Aaron Smart, Adam Olmstead, Andrew Bossie and partner Gary Wagner, Kaitlyn Umphrey and husband James and Nicole DiVito and husband Michael and Dr. Meagan Bossie and fiancé Jonathan Thompson. One great-grandson Michael DiVito III. Several nieces and nephews including Rick Post and wife Nancy of Enfield, Conn. Mrs. Bossie was predeceased by her husband of 62 years Camille, in 2013, 3 sisters Winnie Zwick, Nellie Post and Priscilla Fournier, 2 brothers Reginald and Leonard Long and a grandson Ryan Bossie. Friends called at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou, 6-8 p.m., Sunday. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated 1 p.m., Monday, October 30, 2017 from the Parish of the Precious Blood Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment was in the Old Holy Rosary Cemetery.
