Community dinner

On Saturday, Nov. 11, there will be a free community dinner hosted by the Easton Wesleyan Church. The dinner will be at the Odd Fellows Hall between 4 and 6 p.m. Donations will be accepted for the Friends Helping Friends Food Pantry. Donations can be in the form of cash or nonperishable food items to be used in Thanksgiving Boxes.

Friends Helping Friends is in its 10th year of operation. Hundreds of Easton residents have been helped with monthly food assistance and special food boxes during Thanksgiving and Christmas. The residents of Easton have truly been friends helping friends in supporting the efforts of the pantry.

The Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge is a competition designed for players to demonstrate their skills in the penalty kick. Augustus Bonner, from Easton, participated in the Presque Isle K of C Council Soccer Challenge in September. Winners from different age groups then progressed to the district round, held in Fort Fairfield Oct. 14. Bonner won the challenge for the 11-year-old boys age group. State results are pending. The competition is open to all children ages 9-14. (CourtesyHilary Hallett)

Last week the children of Easton donated five boxes of food to the pantry. Students who attended the Harvest Party brought in non perishable food items. The pantry is grateful to all who participated.
