DONALD A. DAVIS, LITTLETON – Donald A. Davis, 88, passed away November 1, 2017, at the Presque Isle Rehab and Nursing Home. He was born September 9, 1929, in Monticello to Howard and Alice (Stockford) Davis, the third boy in a family of eight.
Donald was employed by the C.A. Powers Co. starch factory in Monticello from 1948 until 1951 when he joined the US Army. He served in the Korean War from May of 1951 to April of 1953. Upon his return home, he went back to the factory until the mid-1960s when it closed. He then went to work at the Houlton International Mill. Donald married his best friend, Joan Graham, in 1963 and they spent many happy years together until her passing in 2003. Donald was a faithful long-time member of the Littleton United Baptist Church, a volunteer at the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum, and a helper of friends and family. He spent the last three years at Presque Isle Rehab and Nursing Center where he received wonderful care.
Donald leaves his nieces, Barbara Rutledge, of Tucson, AZ, Debora Levensailor, of Harpswell, Diane Fawcett, of New Brunswick; his nephew, Louis Mavor, of Brush Prairie, WA, as well as his sisters-in-law, Gloria Rafford, Audrey Craig, Linda Porter, and Barbara Swallow; his brother-in-law, Roland Graham; he will be missed by his many grand nieces and nephews. He leaves his special friends and caretakers, Susan and Keith Nason of Littleton. Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Burton, Fred and Eugene; his sisters, Georgie Carrigan, Ruby McAtee, Julia Morehouse, and Florence Mavor.
The family would like to thank the staff at P.I.R.N.C. for their excellent care of Donald for the last three years.
Friends called 12-1 p.m. on Monday, November 6th at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water Street, Houlton, where funeral services were held 1 p.m. with Pastor Steve Straubel officiating. Interment was in the Littleton Cemetery with full military honors.
