JERRE LEE LYNDS, LITTLETON – Jerre Lee Lynds, 66, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bangor. He was born July 20, 1951, in Houlton, the son of Harold Lynds and Mabel (Stearns) Drost.
Jerre grew up in Littleton and graduated from Houlton High School, class of 1970. During high school and for a short time after, he drove a fuel truck for Huey Tuttle. Jerre was then drafted into the U.S. Army and served during Vietnam from 1971 to 1973. Upon his discharge, he returned home and went to work for the Public Works Department of Houlton. He married Wendy Guy on August 31, 1974, and together they would raise their two children, Jeffrey and Jennifer, and share 43 years of marriage. Jerre also earned an associate degree in mechanics from N.M.V.T.I. in Presque Isle. He enjoyed coffee with friends and loved mechanics. He was always there to help others and it never mattered how well he knew you. Jerre was a devoted husband, a proud father, as well as being very dependable, kind and loving.
He leaves bebind his wife, Wendy Lynds of Littleton; a son, Dr. Jeffrey Lynds and his wife, Jennifer, of Rumford; a daughter, Jen Lynds and her fiancé, Dan Dobbs, of Littleton; three grandchildren, Rylee, Jack and Brody; two brothers, Leland Lynds and Joan of Turner and Randy Lynds of Monticello; and his mother of Littleton. Jerre is also survived by his father-in-law, Wendell Guy of Houlton; two brothers-in-law, David Guy and his wife, Jane, of Hodgdon and Tim Guy of Houlton; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Jerre will also be remembered by his work family at the Houlton Town Garage. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a sister, Darlene (Lynds) Price; his mother-in-law, Patricia Guy; and a brother-in-law, Denny Guy.
Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Sunday, November 5, 2017, at Dunn Funeral Home, Houlton. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary of the Visitation Church with Father Kent Ouellette, celebrant. A reception will immediately follow the service at St. Anthony’s Hall. Interment with military honors will take place at Littleton Cemetery following the reception.
