Chapter prepares to honor vets with Wreaths Across America

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Lunar Chapter 126 Order of the Eastern Star of Presque Isle is supporting Wreaths Across America, and seek the community’s help to make this happen.

A national program, Wreaths Across America provides holiday wreaths for placement on the graves of veterans throughout the country. The OES chapter spearheads the effort for the Presque Isle/Caribou area, distributing wreaths at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Caribou and at Fairmount Cemetery in Presque Isle.

The chapter has set a goal this year of 500 wreaths. Anyone interested may donate through Nov. 22.

Members will lay the wreaths on Saturday, Dec. 3, and welcome the community to help.

Last year, OES was able to place seven wreaths at Veterans Memorial Park in Presque Isle, each honoring a branch of the military.

Wreaths are $15 each.

Donations may be mailed, along with a form found at www.wreathsacrossamerica.org, to Charlene Buzza, Secretary, 47 Howard St, Presque Isle ME 04769.
