Owl men’s soccer players recognized

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The American Collegiate Athletic Association announced the All-ACAA Men’s Soccer Teams on Nov. 8 and four members of the University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls gained honors.

Sean Barbosa, a senior from Caribou, and Chris Udobi, a freshman from Nigeria, were both named to the second team, while Paul Kaplan, a freshman from Embden, and Matt Manter, a senior from Caribou, were honorable mention selections.

Barbosa was named to the second team as a midfielder. He was a leader and key to the Owls’ defensive efforts, while also scoring one goal and assisting on another this season.

Udobi made an impact as a freshman from the forward position. He finished with two goals and collected one assist.

Kaplan, who started every game for the Owls as a defender, and Manter, who racked up 135 saves, had a .746 save percentage and was credited with one shutout as the starting goalkeeper, both received honorable mention.
