SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — Maine Real Estate Information Systems (Maine Listings) has announced Jane Towle, broker/owner at RE/MAX Central of Presque Isle, was recently appointed president of its board of directors.
Maine Listings is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Maine Association of Realtors, which operates the statewide multiple listing service providing multiplatform real estate data on properties in Maine to licensed real estate professionals.
“Maine Listings is our industry’s most important and useful tool,” said Towle. “The data allows our users to assist clients while utilizing best practices. It’s a conduit for members to stay informed on what is happening on the state level, plus have their voices heard on a national level.”
Outgoing president Tim Dunham said of Towle, “Her impressive resume, which includes 26 years in the real estate industry and diverse leadership roles, and the unanimous respect she’s earned among the state and local board members made her a natural choice for the position.”
He emphasized that her multi-state licensure and advance certification give her a breadth of knowledge which will be invaluable to the organization in the coming years.
“Jane is well-versed in the discussion of the tremendous challenges facing our industry today and is highly qualified to lead our organization through this rapidly changing environment. She will be a powerful voice representing Maine,” Dunham said.
Cathy Libby, Maine Listings CEO, said, “Serving as the executive board leader highlights Jane’s commitment to working on behalf of her colleagues throughout the state. Maine holds an important position nationally as a single statewide multiple listing service, and having Jane represent our industry is a great step for us.”
Towle knows that her expanding role with Maine Listings comes at a key time.
“Significant crossroads are looming in our industry. How real estate data is shared regionally and nationally is a crucial question, with Amazon and Google potentially playing a critical role in the future. Due to our single MLS system model, it is impressive to see Maine as a key player in the nation,” Towle said. “Maine Listings will have a voice in shaping the future for real estate professionals and I am honored to be part of this effort.”
Towle will represent Maine at the National Association of Realtors conference in Chicago, and has been asked to lead a roundtable discussion at the National Broker’s Idea Exchange. She has also been nominated for membership into the National Association of Realtor’s Broker Idea Exchange Council and will be appointed in Washington, D.C., next May.
