HOULTON, Maine — The Houlton Humane Society has been chosen as a beneficiary of the Hannaford Cause Bag Program for the month of November. Anytime a shopper purchases a Hannaford Helps reusable blue “Helps” bag sold during the month at the Houlton store location, the Humane Society will receive $1.
The HHS is posted on the reusable bag rack at the store for the duration of the month.
Every month, Hannaford contributes money to approximately 362 nonprofits across Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York and Massachusetts through this program. Since the its inception in 2015, 357,949 bags have been purchased to benefit 2,595 local causes $376,840 in program donations have been made Hannaford, according to the company.
