DONALD ‘PAPA’ CARVER, SHERMAN AND PATTEN – Donald ‘Papa’ Carver, 79, of Sherman and Patten, one of eleven children born to Freemont and Georgia (Oaks) Carver, Nov. 6, 1938, went to be with his family that passed before him on Nov. 12, 2017. He was a potato farmer and logger by trade but was defined as “a family man” by all that knew him. He loved his family, as crazy as they are, with all that he was. He worked his whole life taking care of them.
He leaves behind his wife, Patty; his daughters, Rosanne Weymouth of Millinocket, Dawnette Carver of Glenburn, Debbie Berry and her husband, Robert of Winn and Deanna Carver and her wife, Margaret Simon of Naples; his beloved grandchildren, Michael, Christopher and Adam Weymouth, Danielle Berry and Nick Cummings of Auburn, Kris Carver and Katie Coffin of Saco, Clint Michaud of Smyrna, Donald “DJ” Steeves and Hannah Buhler of Orono, and Allison Moore and Cameron Brann of Hampden; as well as five great-grandchildren, Chloe Coffin, Quinn, Miles, Norah and Nolan Michaud; also his close friend and confident Tommy Perrin. He also leaves his siblings Freemont “Jr.” Carver, Helen Cochran, Shirley Worster, Alice Rogan, Betty Suitter and her husband, Warren, and Sharon “Pee Wee” Morgan and her husband, Russell; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends that loved him including a special nephew, David Carver and his wife, Kristy of Lincoln. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister, Edna, his best friend and brother, George “Buster” Carver, a sister Georgia “Sally” Champion, and a sister, Mary Martin.
Friends may call 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at Bowers Funeral Home, Sherman Street, Island Falls, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. with Pastor Tom Smith Officiating.
